UniCarriers Americas (UCA) is always looking for ways to help its dealers by improving offerings and providing access to new dealer programs and services. Recently, UCA introduced a program that helps dealers maintain a proper inventory of hardware and small parts from MSC Industrial Direct / VMI Pro Services (formerly Class C Solutions/Barnes Distribution).
The program, which offers over 250,000 items, can help ensure dealerships are always stocked with the appropriate hardware and small parts to complete any job. Here are a few examples of the MSC program offering:
- Hoses and Fittings
- Electrical Connectors
- Technician Van Hardware Kits
- Safety & Security Products
- Material Handling Hardware
- Vehicle Hardware
- Tooling and Abrasives
- Maintenance and Shop Supplies
Start-up is easy. The process begins with a site audit, conducted by an MSC field representative, which includes a supply inventory count. Once the audit is complete, MSC provides findings and a cost savings analysis tailored specifically to the dealer. When the dealer signs off, an official installation date is set.
MSC will supply the dealer with new storage bins and labels and move the dealer’s existing inventory into the new bins, making sure everything stays organized and uniform. The initial order is created based on the results of the site audit, is processed by the MSC representative and is delivered to the dealership in one to two days. Once the order is delivered, a service representative arrives to unpack the order and places the parts in the proper bins - making this program completely turnkey for UCA dealers. On the next visit, the MSC sales representative takes inventory of the bins, creates a replenishment order and the process is repeated.
“It’s really a no-brainer for our dealers to enroll in MSC’s program,” said Kevin Fick, director of aftermarket sales for UniCarriers Americas Corporation. “The MSC reps come in and take care of the entire process. Our dealers simply sign-off on the orders, and in turn, have a very organized hardware area.”
Enrolling in MSC’s services also has the enticing benefit of saving dealers a lot of money on supplies. “Because we have a national program, dealers can receive the best rates by signing up through UniCarriers,” said Fick. “Our role is to help dealers set up their MSC accounts and hand them off to the appropriate MSC representative to implement the program.”
Once an order is shipped from an MSC distribution center to the dealership, UCA will invoice the authorized dealer and all purchases will count toward a dealership’s DURA-LIFT parts goal.
With MSC, dealers will increase employee productivity and decrease purchasing costs. “It all falls under the umbrella that if we can save them money, supply them what they’re already buying with the same quality and with the same availability, it’s a win for everyone involved.”
